Brazil: Embrace the Rhythm

How does planning a visit to one of the most exciting places in the world sound to you? Brazil is a country that will surprise any experienced traveler and one of the few in the world that hosted the World Cup and the Olympics back to back.

But what, makes this country so special, exactly? Brazil offers everything that any traveler could possibly be looking for: varied culture, colorful wildlife, deserted beaches, compassionate and lively people, luxury and leisure, passionate sports, extreme activities, affordability, charm and sophistication, delectable cuisine… and so much more. No matter where you are in Brazil, there’s never a dull moment. There’s always an opportunity to relax, and to soak in the Brazilian atmosphere through all your senses.

But how does one plan a trip to such a huge country full of diversity and different ecosystems? It is true that it is impossible to see everything that Brazil has to offer in just a few weeks or even in a whole month, but it is still possible to have a good taste of it by spending at least one week there.

Rio de Janeiro is a very vibrant city and a must-see for all visitors. Rio will surprise you with the friendliness of the locals, the spectacular landscape of a city surrounded by beaches, and forests, lagoons and a local cuisine that will delight your senses. From the tours to the main sights in Rio, such as the statue of Christ the Redeemer and Sugar Loaf, to more personalized experiences such as bike rides, hiking in the tropical forest, cooking classes, stand-up paddle lessons or even an art tour with a specialist, almost everything can be organized in accordance to the visitor’s main interest(s). The city also has a great variety of hotels that range from the stunning Copacabana Palace on the Copacabana beach all the way to the Santa Teresa boutique hotel that rests on the hills and the bohemian area of the same name.

Nature is another highlight of this South American country. Probably the first destination that comes to mind for every traveler is the impressive and amazing Iguaçu Falls, which is another must-see, especially if you are staying at the luxury Belmond Hotel das Cataratas. The Iguaçu area offers some great activities, such as a speed boat ride next to the falls (Macuco Safari and Gran Aventura) and a private helicopter ride over the falls. Also the area offers great options in terms of hiking trails and the bird park.

But the flora and fauna in Brazil extends far beyond Iguaçu, especially for those passionate about wildlife. Pantanal is just the place for those looking to witness animals in their natural habitat. . It has the biggest display of biodiversity inthe whole world and home to jaguars. Bird watchers also go crazy with Pantanal, as it is one the few places where one can see more than 100 different species of birds in a single day.

Pantanal is divided into two main areas: the North Pantanal and the South Pantanal. The north is the best to see jaguars. Porto Jofre hotel is the best option, but keep in mind that accommodations here are very basic and that it is becoming very touristy. For those that want to experience the wildlife of Pantanal from the comfort of a more luxurious place, Fazenda Caiman is definitely the best option. Those that would not mind staying in a more simple accommodation, but would still like to have the best experience in terms of what Pantanal has to offer, the Recanto Barra Mansa serves as the ideal spot.

Another big destination in Brazil is the famous Amazon jungle, which can be experienced at some great lodges like Anavilhanas, Juma and Cristalino Lodge, all of which offer a variety of activities such as: encounters with the pink dolphin, piranha fishing, how to survive in the jungle workshops, forest hikes and visits to the local communities.

The rich historical and cultural side of Brazil should not be missed. In Salvador, visitors can attend percussion classes with famous musicians or try participating in the famous Brazilian martial art – Capoeira.

Even for visitors that are not interested in nature or culture and simply seek to relax in a nice and paradisiacal beach, Brazil is the right destination. Its coast is more than 5,000 km.
