One of our star products, the Finch Bay Eco-Hotel in Galapagos, has made once more headlines in the travel industry by being rated among the 25 Best Hotels of South America 2012, by the highly prestigious travel site Trip Advisor, which currently rosters over 65 million readers and subscribers. The Trip Advisor’s recognition, resulting from travelers’ reviews, not only confirms the already awarded merit of being classified as the Best Hotel in the Galapagos Islands, but also now becomes the number one Hotel in all of Ecuador, with no other establishment of Ecuador found on the 2012 Best 25 of South America’s list.
The Finch Bay Eco-Hotel is the only beachfront Hotel on the scenic and highly popular town of Puerto Ayora, the islands’ main touristic and scientific hub. The Hotel is located on an exclusive and quiet part of town, pedestrian only neighborhood, without cars, traffic and noise, on an idyllic location along a secluded mangrove-framed small bay, which enjoys a splendid sandy beach. Still, the town’s center is just five minutes away by boat, at the other side of the picturesque and turquoise-water colored Academy Bay. The Hotel boasts six Ocean View Suites and 21 Garden View rooms, all of them equipped with air conditioning, in-room safety boxes and all the amenities of a top-class hotel; set amongst a beautifully gardened and natural property which includes indoor and outdoor dining areas; reading room with wireless internet services; swimming pool and outdoor bar, and hundreds of the famed Darwin’s finches on the native vegetations which naturally gardens the hotel.
Guests may well share quarters on the swimming pool deck, with Galapagos pin-tailed ducks, great blue herons and lava gulls, while the beach is a frequent venue for fun and games with Galapagos sea lions, basking marine iguanas, pelicans and other birds. Guests can either relax and enjoy the facilities or undertake a host of activities, from day tours on the Hotel’s exclusively owned and operated day-trip yachts Sea Lion and Sea Finch, to swimming, snorkeling, kayaking at the bay; diving lessons or diving-trips; excursions to the highlands of Santa Cruz and other highlights of the island, including the bustling port town of Puerto Ayora.
Considering the fragile and unique environment of the islands’ ecosystems, the Hotel has been a leader on implementing best practices for sustainable tourism, including the installation of solar panels, special water treatment, recycling processes and other features, for which it has received several awards and recognitions, national and international, for its environmental awareness and social responsibility.
Service quality at every part of the operation and the staff’s warm hospitality are second to none and one more solid reason for having received this new distinction. The formula of respect for nature, superb service, an unbeatable location, along with its magnificent facilities, services and varied activities have made up for Trip Advisor’s reviewers to position the Finch Bay Hotel so high on the list of South America’s 25 Best Hotels, 2012. Commenting on the newly received recognition, the Hotel’s General Manager, Xavier Burbano de Lara, expressed that it was to be attributed to the personnel’s dedication, commitment and passion for excellence and service. He added that the distinction was being received with delight but also humbly, as it poses the challenge of keeping up with the quality which visitors have recognized. Meanwhile, a comment quoted from Trip Advisor’s reviews says that the Hotel “is the perfect home base for exploring the islands and relaxing. The staff is all friendly and incredibly helpful, the rooms are lovely, the breakfast in the morning is amazing and the pool and beach are idyllic. This is definitely a place to go”…..
We are proud to have such a highly praised property among our portfolio of exclusive products in Ecuador and South America.
