Intinerary Description
DAY 01: BAHÍA SOLANO
Flight from Medellín to Bahía Solano. Arrival at Bahía Solano and transfer by jeep transportation during one hour to the ECOLODGE EL ALMEJAL where the accommodation will be organised in very nice wooden bungalows with terrace, private bath and ocean view.
After accommodation lunch will be served. Later you will receive a welcome talk to the Golfina Project of Protection of Sea Turtles and the material you will need will be delivered.
DAY 02: BAHÍA SOLANO/NIGHT PATROLLING
Breakfast and departure to do the recognition of the nesting beach and identification of trails. Afterwards, talk about the reproduction of sea turtles. In the evening, tour to patrol in the search of nesting female turtles, witness the egg laying and then you will participate on the collection of the eggs for stocking them in the nursery.
Return to the lodge and rest.
DAY 03: BAHÍA SOLANO/LIBERATION OF BABY SEA TURTLES
Breakfast and departure for the tour of the day. The main attraction of the Ecolodge is its Natural Reserve. For this reason, after enjoying the turtles, you have a tour through the jungle, where you will be able to discover the secrets and jewels that are being protected in this Natural Reserve. The trekking starts towards the reserve and at only 30 meters above sea level you’ll have the most amazing view of the marine horizon merging with the forest.
At the Natural Reserve your guide will give you a very interesting explanation about the flora and fauna of the region and this ecosystem. Lunch included at the Ecolodge. In the afternoon, you will participate in the liberation of baby sea turtles.
DAY 04: BAHÍA SOLANO/MEETING WITH THE TANGARAS OF CHOCÓ
Breakfast and trekking inside the Natural Reserve to one of the many platforms located on top of some trees. Here you will be able to observe the colourful tangaras of Chocó, Tangara lavinia, Tangara johannae, Dacnis venusta, Tangara larvata, Tangara inornata, Mitrospingus cassini, and with a little of luck the spectacular Erytroplypis salmon.
Return to the Ecolodge and rest.
DAY 05: BAHIA SOLANO – BOGOTA
Breakfast and during the morning transfer to Bahia Solano and from there return flight to Medellin and then to Bogotá.
