Under the new tourism slogan of Ecuador, "Love Life", the Andean country launched a new promotional campaign to motivate travelers from Chile and Argentina to visit Ecuador. For this purpose, special Workshops and Business Rounds were organized last week in Santiago, the capital of Chile and then in Buenos Aires, the capital of Argentina. On both South American capitals, a large number of local travel agents, tour operators, specialized media and other tourism and travel related organizations and companies, attended a special presentation of the "Destination Ecuador". The local guests also had the opportunity to network with a select delegation of 20 Ecuadorian tour operators and travel outfitters during organized Business Rounds and were treated to a special dinner with an exquisite display of national gastronomic delicacies, prepared by Ecuadorian Chef Juan Carlos Fernandez, complemented by a musical presentation which gained raving accounts and applauses from the participants.
Ecuador focused its presentation on "Ten Reasons to Visit Our Country". Among these reasons are: the unique and world famous Galapagos Islands; the spectacular Pacific coastline; the Avenue of the Volcanoes; the extraordinary and luxuriant Amazon Rainforest, plus rare cloud forests; The Equator; the highest elevation on the Equator, Cayambe Volcano at over 18.000 feet of elevation; World Cultural Heritage Sites like the cities of Quito and Cuenca; World Natural Heritage Sites like the Galapagos National Park and the Galapagos Marine Reserve, along with the Sangay Volcano and National Park; the Cultural diversity, with seventeen ethnic groups, each with a rich culture and a diversity of handicrafts and colorful celebrations and festivities; the country's stunning mega-biodiversity, with the highest number of plant and animal species per square kilometer in the world, including over 2000 species of orchids and over 1800 species of birds, among them, 33% of the planet's species of hummingbirds.
Both presentations featured a special Welcome from Ecuador's Ambassadors in Santiago and Buenos Aires, respectively. A highlight of both events was the running of the multicolor and truly beautiful video-clip "Ecuador, Love Life", which depicts in a spinning sequence of images of stunning beauty, a formidable display of light and color plus the contagious rhythm of the song "Love Life", performed by famous afro-Ecuadorian singer and artist, Karla Kanora, which delighted the guests who attended the events, held at the Intercontinental Hotel in Santiago and the Marriott Hotel in Buenos Aires.
The campaign, organized and directed by Ecuador's Ministry of Tourism, counted with the support of the country's Embassies in Chile and Argentina as well as from the private sector, which participated enthusiastically and presented to the Chilean and Argentine travel professionals the ample offer of tours and travel options to explore the magic and varied tourism attractions of the country, which are complemented by an increasingly wider and better accessibility and infrastructure, to cater for the most demanding travelers, for those with special interests and also for the growing segment of the Meetings, Congresses and Incentives travel market.
The Business Rounds provide the opportunity to have one-on-one conversations between the Ecuadorian exhibitors and touring services' suppliers and the local buyers, inviting them to experience the uniqueness of such a diverse and magnificent country, right in the Middle of the World, as is Ecuador. With this campaign and events, Ecuador enhances its promotional and marketing strategies which are showing a sustained increase in the interest and numbers of visitors from Chile and Argentina, thus strengthening the importance of the mid and short range regional markets as pillars of Ecuador's inbound tourism.
