Junior explorers get a jump on the Galapagos with “Young Pirates Program”

Educational activities await travelers ages 7 - 13 on Galapagos expeditions onboard MV Santa Cruz, La Pinta and Isabela II 

Ahoy, ye hearties – and your parents and grandparents, too! Prepare to embrace the Galapagos while cruising the briny deep with the Young Pirates Program from Adventure Associates. The captivating cruise program has junior buccaneers living the pirate life while exploring the coolest islands in the Pacific aboard the expedition yachts MV Santa Cruz, La Pinta and Isabela II. Launched earlier this year by Adventure Associates, Young Pirates engages guests ages 7-13 with supervised educational activities that delve deep into the paradise of around them. Parents share the booty, too, with “adult time” to treasure as their youngsters take in the day.

No need to walk the gangplank to enjoy in the Young Pirates Program. Rather, youthful participants jump into “kids’-style” diversions for a better understanding and appreciation of the amazing biodiversity of the Galapagos. Onboard activities include coloring, “ecuamemory” cards, maps, animal puzzles, and educational videos and movies. Everybody gets a “Young Pirates” booklet, packed with educational pursuits such as Galapagos Means Tortoises; Galapagos Bedtime Stories; Life on Earth: The Story of Evolution; and Darwin and Evolution for Kids.

There will also be special kids-style menus, treasure hunts, trivia games, reading time, stargazing and plenty of conversation to go around. Handicrafts run from bracelet weaving to Play-Doh. Meanwhile, “Special Moments” are planned around lunch and dinner, offering parents respite to dine or attend lectures and events on their own.
