According to a recent release published by livinginperu.com Inca Rail and Andean Railways, two new railway operators for the Cusco-Machu Picchu routes, oficially signed the contracts to start working soon on the legendary trip, one of South America’s “MUSTS” in travel….
During a ceremony celebrated at Country Club Lima Hotel, Inca Rail's Director, Juan Forsyth, announced that their maiden trip will take place on September 19th, while Andean Railways' President, Daniel Amado, said that they will start operating on October 1st.
According to Peruvian authorities and operators, the opening to competition on this ultra famous route will serve to improve and increase the flow of visitors to the country and enhance Peru’s signature destination. Currently, hundreds of thousands of visitors per year, bordering the million, ride the railway to the historic Machu Picchu Citadel. Having more options and differentiated services and itineraries will undoubtedly bring in more bookings and visitors to the area.
According to the contract's terms, Peru Rail will keep 10 services a day, and the other 8 will be covered by the new operators. Visitors will now have a greater and better selection of choices to explore and experience the spectacularly scenic ride and two cultural gems of South America’s travel highlights, Cusco and Machu Picchu.
