Effective august 17th, 2009, Ecuador launched a major campaign on CNN to promote its “four natural worlds”, as a world class destination, where, on a small territory (the size of the State of Colorado in the United States), you can travel within few hours from the majestic Andes and their snow covered peaks, towering above 6000 meters above sea level, to the heart of the Amazon rainforest or the splendid beaches and coastal plains along the Pacific Ocean or the unique Galapagos islands, amidst one of the most biodiverse regions of our planet. Add to that the equally rich and varied cultural heritage of the country; its proximity and ease to travel within and the natural hospitality of its people and you have a never to be forgotten travel destination.
The project will be aired on CNN en Español (CNN in Spanish) and is targeted mainly for the Latin American market, but also for the Spanish speaking North American public as well. During six months, Ecuador will sponsor the weekly program “Destinations: Green Edition” and will feature colorful spots presenting the superb natural and cultural diversity of Ecuador. The program focuses on topics such as ecotourism, climatic change, tropical rainforests and natural habitats, endangered species and promotes responsible travel and good practices on unique travel destinations.
Ecuador’s campaign is presented with the brand name of: “From the Middle of the World” and will emphasize on the exceptional variety of travel options which the country offers, particularly ecotourism; cultural tourism; adventure and sports travel and many alternatives to make a visit to the country a remarkable experience. Millions of spectators are expected to view the program, aimed at increasing Ecuador’s positioning as a high quality, exotic, unique and yet accessible, comfortable and easy to travel destination.
