This exciting route takes us into the heart of the Pululahua extinct crater. Descend on small dirt roads through the dense Cloud Forest on off-roads down into the marvelous scenery of the valley inside the crater.
Tour Details
Depart from Quito as you head north, crossing the Equator Line (Latitude 0º) near the town of Calacali. After a safety briefing start the descent via a dirt road into the cloud forest. Mystical vegetation and interesting bird life are the main attractions. Follow the Guayllabamba Canyon at the impressive gorge carved by the Guayllabamba river on its way to the coast. Along the way, visit a traditional sugar cane Hacienda where a local drink called "Puntas" is distilled. At this point you have descended approximately 1,300 feet (400 meters. On the way, stop for a picnic lunch. Return to Quito in the afternoon.
